1. Oba Obateru Akinruntan
He is the Olugbo of Ugbo Land, a town located in Ondo State. He is the richest of all the monarchs in Nigeria today. The town is small, but it is rich in crude oil. He made his money via crude oil business. How did he start? He first opened a small filling station about 35 years ago. But today, the filling station now has more than 50 branches nationwide. The Kabiyesi is also the owner of Obat Petroleum. This company is aid to have the largest of all the oil depots in Africa; they can store up to 65 million liters of petroleum

2. Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi Eniitan
He is the new monarch of Ife Kingdom. His title is Ooni of Ife. He is a very successful business man before he became the Ooni of Ife.  He was born on the 17th of October 1974. He is an accountant and a real estate developer. He is presently the 51stOoni of Ife. He occupied the stool after the demise of Oba Okunade Sijuwade. He is an astute entrepreneur and his passion lies on making impossibilities possible. He has brought some modern look into kingship since he ascended the throne as the Ooni of Ife.

3. Sultan of Sokoto
Aside from being among the richest kings in Nigeria, he is also one of the most influential kings in Nigeria. He is the leader of all Muslims in Nigeria. This means he is not just a traditional leader; he is also a religious leader. His leadership and influence is not limited to Sokoto alone; he is very popular and well respected all across Nigeria, especially among the Muslims. He is a relatively new monarch, since he ascended the throne not up to 2 years ago. He was formerly the governor of Central Bank of Nigeria before he became a king. His name is Mallam Muhammad Sanusi II. The title is highly respected by the people of Kano state and beyond. He is the head of the whole Kano Emirate, which means his dominance goes beyond the city of Kano alone. Mallam Sanusi took over from late Alhaji Dr. Ado Bayero, who occupied the seat as emir of Kano for 51 years.

5. Alaafin of Oyo
He is also a very rich king and he occupies the 5th place as the richest king in Nigeria. His name is Lamidi Olayiwole III. He came on after the demise of Alaafin Gbadegeshin Ladigbolu II. The king was born in 1938, 15th of October to be precise. Aside from being very rich, he is also very powerful. In fact, he is said to be the third most influential king in Nigeria presently.
No doubt, Nigeria has its fair share of rich kings. You will find these rich and affluent kings in plush palaces across the different parts of Nigeria, both at the northern and southern parts.
