One of the deceased students of the Kumasi Academy (KUMACA) has been laid to rest in Krofrom, a suburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti region.
Clementina Konadu was a student of the senior high school before her untimely demise, which has since been attributed to an outbreak of swine flu.
The funeral service of the 17-year-old was held on Tuesday with family, friends and sympathizers converging to show their last respect.
Clementina died at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology a few weeks ago after being infected with the deadly HINI flu.
Eleven other students from KUMACA have also lost their lives due to the outbreak, with a further 44 currently hospitalized.
Clementina’s remains were brought to the funeral ground, sparking an emotional reaction from sympathizers who could not hold back the tears.
She was then later laid to rest following the completion of the funeral service.
The HINI hit the school in March this year, however, at the time it was unknown what the cause of the deaths were.
However, following numerous tests it was diagnosed that the deaths were a result of an outbreak of swine flu.
The Ministry of Health, the Ghana Health Service and the World Health Organization have all since intervened to ensure the deadly flue does not spread any further. Source: Pocket News
