UBAH, ODUAH, OTHERS WANT PDP CANDIDATE SUBSTITUTED OVER ANAMBRA GUBER

POLITICS – Latest news update as four governorship aspirants in the Peoples Democratic Party in Anambra State have written to the Governor of Enugu State, Mr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi; and the Chairman of the PDP National Caretaker Committee, Ahmed Makarfi, demanding the substitution of the party’s candidate, Mr. Oseloka Obaze, in the November 18, 2017, election.
It is reported that they include the lawmaker representing Anambra North Senatorial District, Stella Oduah; a former Minister of State for Transportation, John Emeka; the Chairman of Capital Oil, Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah; and Alex Obiogbolu.
In separate letters to Ugwuanyi and Makarfi, copies of which was sighted on Sunday, the aspirants, who were aggrieved with the conduct of the August 28, 2017, governorship primary of the PDP in Anambra, insisted that Obaze should be disqualified.
In a letter dated September 10, 2017 and addressed to Ugwuanyi, the aggrieved aspirants pointed out that Obaze would not receive their support if the party failed to address their grievances.
It read in part, “The national leadership of our party should consider and nominate another aspirant as governorship candidate amongst the under listed, who were cleared and are capable of flying the party’s flag: Prince John Emeka, Dr. Alex Obiogbolu, Senator Stella Oduah, and Chief Ifeanyi Ubah.
“The nomination of Mr. Oseloka Obaze, who was not qualified to contest the election, shall not receive our support.”
In the letter jointly signed by the four aspirants and titled, ‘Re: Invitation to Meeting Scheduled for September 11,’ they recalled that Ugwuanyi called them to a peace meeting at the Government House Enugu on September 11 to resolve the crisis.
In the letter to Makarfi, dated September 13, 2017, and titled, ‘Aspirants’ Submission On Issues Surrounding the 2017 Anambra PDP Primary Election,’ the aggrieved aspirants insisted that the August 28 primary that produced Obaze was marred with irregularities and his emergence as candidate was unconstitutional.
